- 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, lemon juice, and salt. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the cooked apples and stir until well coated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sugar to caramelize slightly.
- Remove from heat and serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- You can use any firm apple variety for this recipe, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of cinnamon according to your preference.
