Delicious sourdough cinnamon rolls made with a soft dough and a rich cinnamon filling.
Ingredients

- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg.
- Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread softened butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar over the dough.
- Sprinkle nuts if using.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish.
- Let them rise for another hour.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter roll, increase the sugar.
- Use whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
