- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (for frosting)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the frosting by mixing powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.
- Once the cake is cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Feel free to add different mix-ins like caramel bits or peanut butter chips for variety.
- This recipe can be made into cupcakes by pouring the batter into lined muffin tins and baking for 18-20 minutes.
