Description
A traditional British roast beef dinner featuring perfectly cooked roast beef, crispy Yorkshire puddings, and rich gravy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 lbs Beef roast (ribeye or sirloin)
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 4 Garlic cloves, minced
- 2 sprigs Fresh rosemary
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 3 large Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/4 cup Butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Season the beef roast generously with salt and black pepper. Rub olive oil, minced garlic, and rosemary over the meat.
- Place the beef roast in a roasting pan and roast for 20 minutes at 450°F (230°C). Then reduce the temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (135°F for medium-rare).
- Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt to make the Yorkshire pudding batter. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- Increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C). In a muffin tin, melt butter in each compartment in the oven until sizzling.
- Pour the Yorkshire pudding batter into the hot muffin tin, filling each compartment about halfway. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy.
- For the gravy, place the roasting pan on the stovetop over medium heat. Add beef broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Simmer for about 5 minutes, then strain if desired.
- Slice the roast beef and serve with crispy Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy.
Notes
- Let the beef rest to ensure juiciness.
- Ensure the muffin tin is hot before adding the batter for the best rise.
- Use the beef drippings for a more flavorful gravy.
