Description
Indulge in this rich and gooey chocolate lava cake, perfectly portioned for two. This decadent dessert is easy to make and will impress your special someone.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 oz unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Butter and cocoa powder for greasing ramekins
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Grease two 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder. Set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chopped chocolate and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the powdered sugar until well combined.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the chocolate mixture, whisking until smooth.
- Gently fold in the flour and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared ramekins.
- Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift off.
- Serve immediately, optionally topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
- Ensure not to overbake, as the center should remain gooey for the lava effect.
- You can substitute chocolate with semi-sweet or milk chocolate for a sweeter taste.
- These cakes are best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for up to a day before reheating.
