Description

Quick and healthy chicken and cabbage stir fry that’s bursting with flavor. Perfect for a weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the cabbage, bell pepper, and onion to the pan. Stir-fry for 5-6 minutes until vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and add soy sauce, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

  • Tip 1: Use a high smoke point oil like sesame oil for better flavor.
  • Tip 2: Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes in soy sauce and ginger for extra flavor.
  • Tip 3: Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Tip 4: Add a splash of rice vinegar for a tangy kick.
  • Tip 5: Customize with your favorite veggies like carrots or snap peas.
