  • 1 large head of cabbage, leaves separated
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce (sugar-free if desired)
  • 2 cups (16 oz) ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups (8 oz) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (4 oz) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Once the meat is cooked, stir in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  5. In a large baking dish, spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of cabbage leaves over the sauce, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
