Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost the top of one cake layer with buttercream frosting, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the entire cake.
- Decorate with fresh flowers or edible decorations as desired.
