Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss to coat the peaches evenly. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
- Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter over the peach mixture in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh, ripe peaches. You can substitute with canned peaches, but be sure to drain them well.
- Feel free to add a sprinkle of oats or nuts to the topping for added texture.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
