Description

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 3/4 cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup olive oil, plus more for drizzling
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or basil), chopped
- Coarse sea salt, for topping
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
- Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet.
- Gently stretch the dough to fit the baking sheet, then use your fingers to create dimples all over the surface.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with fresh herbs and coarse sea salt.
- Cover and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add garlic or other spices to the olive oil before drizzling.
- This focaccia can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
