A classic dessert featuring layers of sweetened strawberries, fluffy whipped cream, and tender shortcake biscuits.

- 1 pound Fresh strawberries
- 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine sliced strawberries and sugar. Toss to coat and set aside to macerate for 30 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times. Pat into a 1-inch thick round.
- Cut out biscuits using a floured cutter and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with extra cream and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let biscuits cool slightly, then split them in half.
- Layer strawberries and whipped cream between the biscuit halves and on top. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For the whipped cream, simply beat heavy cream with a little sugar until stiff peaks form.
- You can substitute the strawberries with other berries like blueberries or raspberries.
